Building Regulation Changes 15th June 2022

Building Regulations Changes Coming 15 June 2022

First announced in December 2021, the Department for Levelling Up, Homes and Communities (DLUHC) is making major updates to the Building Regulations, due to be in effect from 15 June 2022. These changes come with over £6million of investment into improving energy efficiency of buildings. The Government says that heating and powering buildings currently makes up approximately 40% of total energy use, and the aim is to reduce this significantly. As a result of these changes, all new homes must produce 30% less carbon dioxide emissions than current standards.

Reducing energy usage and carbon emissions during home improvements is also a part of the Building Regulations’ new standards, however, the old rules may still be applicable to home projects depending on how far along planning is with the local authority.
